An informal All Star Game took place on Sunday Oct 23rd. Given the lateness in the season, the game being played the day after the banquet and many players recovering from injuries after the Internationals, the championship winning Air Solutions team led by Wade Beattie played an All Star team picked by Frank Mills (who coincidentally had picked Wade’s team during the draft).

Representing the All Stars were top players from every team: Ali Naeemy (True Blues), John Zidanic (True Blues), John Nunes (Rams), Sandeep Goel (Rams), Chris Van Dooren (Imperials), Mike Stevenson (Gunners), Chris Waldock (Gunners), Dave Williams (Gunners), Rich Sumner (Gunners) and Frank Mills (Rangers) plus Alan Hughes and Pat Brodie (from the spare list).

Alex Boyd volunteered to referee the game and once he worked out how to blow a whistle the game got underway in beautiful autumn weather of sunshine, no wind and 20C.

It was immediately obvious that the Air Solutions crisp passing and almost telepathic understanding between players was going to be tested by the raw speed and individual talent of the All Stars. The packed bleachers were in for a wonderful spectacle of the very best the BOTSC has to offer, and the players did not disappoint. Ultimately the youth and speed of the All Stars triumphed 6 – 3. But the winner was undoubtably the BOTSC demonstrating that at our best we are competitive with any over 45 team.
