In today's game between the Yellow and Red teams, Jeff was quite restless and edgy. He exchanged some unpleasant words with Phil Prata regarding a foul that I didn't see as a foul.
He then argued with me that he was tripped by Phil. This happened for a while in the first half.
In the second half, at the 47th minute to be exact, I realized that an altercation was happening off the ball and behind my back. When I turned towards the scene I saw that Jeff was holding Kevin Bland's neck (his teammate) and bad mouthing him. Apparently, this happened because Kevin didn't pass him the ball.
After some players and I intervened, Jeff let go of Kevin and left the field. He was very angry and aggressive.
I was told that he even threatened Kevin. Of course, I didn't hear this myself.
I could/should have given Jeff red card but wanted to restore the calm so gave him a yellow card as he was leaving the pitch.
After he left the field we continued the game. I'd like also to mention that Kevin kept his cool and didn't escalate the situation.
