President's Mid-Season Message

Dear Club Members,

I hope you’re enjoying your season so far, even though it did seem to take forever to get started.

Just a reminder that we are a social, as well as a soccer club. Here are our recent and Upcoming Events.

Pub Daze – Ongoing

A chance to have a pint and some refreshments on the club, and banter with your teammates and fellow club members. Check the dates and location with your convener.

Inter- Divisional Crossover Game – June 30th.

Thank you to all those who took part. Although we didn’t have the attendance we hoped for the feedback from those participating was 100% positive. If you can make the next one please do so.

NOBS Game - July 17th.

This is a long-standing tradition where we challenge The Niagara Old Boys Rugby Club to a game of soccer, first half, and in the second half play them at their own game. You might surprise yourself at how good a rugby player you are! All this is followed by dinner, beer and banter at their Sherwood Park club house. A fun night with the rugby crowd.

Annual Golf Tournament – July 27th.

This year’s tournament takes place at Burlington Springs. For a 120 bucks you get a great day’s golf, beer n’ burger and dinner at the Squire plus prizes. Get together with your teammates and put a foursome(s) together.

Rowley Bowl Tournament – August 4th.

Another long-standing club event where you are invited to bring your family members, and friends, to play in a charity soccer tournament, followed by a BBQ and awards presentation at the Squire. This is a great way to enjoy a game with new faces on a long weekend when we have no regular games  scheduled.

Ken Bradwell Tournament – August 31st.

Although not officially sanctioned by the BOTSC we do support this charity event organised by David Hamon which takes place on the Saturday of the Labour Day Weekend.

International Games – October 20th

Last fling of the season where you get to play for your country (Adoptive or otherwise). Details to follow

Annual Awards Banquet – November 2nd.

Our 35th annual awards night this year takes place at The Waterfront Hotel, Lakeshore and Brant. A 3-course dinner, including chicken and steak plus wine at the table is included. Mike Stevenson and his band will again provide the music. Tickets go on sale August 1 and will be $45 each (member and partner) and $55 each for non-members after September 1. More details to follow.

Annual General Meeting – November 17th.

Your chance to have a say in how your club works and volunteer to become a member of the executive team. Details to follow.

Enjoy the rest of your season guys.
